We continue to carry on the Festival idea brought to us by our parents and grandparents from their villages in every corner of Greece where every summer a Festival took place. We will gather from every suburb and every part of the City of Chicago to eat, drink, dance and enjoy the fellowship of our families, friends, relatives and guests.
Come join us this year and enjoy the home-made marinated souvlakia and chickens, cooked on the grills, our freshly roasted succulent leg of lamb, our home-made Pastichio and Greek salad. Perhaps a plate of Gyros, freshly carved from the spit will hit the spot! Visit our Pastry Shops where you will find our home-made, in our church kitchens, traditional Greek pastries Baklava, Galatobouriko, Melomacarona, and of course, our made from scratch, fresh Loukoumades (deep-fried honey puffs). Visit our Kafenio (Coffee Shop) and enjoy a cup of Greek coffee, or American coffee or have an unforgettable Frappe! Then visit our AGORA (Greek marketplace) and enjoy the handwork of our vendors, jewelry, toys, hand-made soaps, scarves, Greek imports and our own Myrovlitis Book & Icon store with a beautiful selection of religious Icons and books in Greek and English, as well as other religious items for your home.
The children and parents are invited to visit our Kiddie Corner Classroom on Saturday and Sunday evenings. There will be plenty of activities for children and adults to enjoy all weekend. There will be dancing under the stars to Greek and American music provided by the incomparable JOHN LINARDAKIS BAND, this year featuring soprano Carol Lo Verde and entertainment by our own accomplished dance troupes on Sunday evening. If you visit us on Friday night you will hear the exciting NORTHSIDE who will provide you with a lot of musical Rock n Roll memories from the 1970's to the present. We are proud to have the NORTHSIDE with us since they got their start right here at St. Demetrios. You can visit their website www.northsideband.com
